Our Mission :

Owners of Atlantic Limousines of Maine, John Veit and Chris Eisenhart, had a shared a vision of civic contribution.

Hugs for Rides began in 2006 as an initiative to help severely ill children and their families by taking their minds off of the continuous routine of hospitals and treatment.  The program gives rides in the company’s limousines for those in need and as a means of distraction and ray of light and joy in an often times monotonous, bleak or stressful day.

Our History:

Hugs for Rides began its journey working with patients at the Maine Childrens cancer Center and later with Camp sunshine in Casco.  In the six years since Hugs for Rides was implemented, it has served hundreds of children, at no cost, even driving patients to and from Boston.

The first limousine ride in the program was for a young boy who wanted to see a hockey game.  The boy came running out and gave owners John and Chris a big hug – and so it was that Hugs for Rides came to be and its namesake was coined.

The Future:

John and Chris believe they have found a rewarding calling serving children in Maine and hope to expand Hugs for Rides Nationally.
